Treatments

Chemotherapy is the treatment of disease by means of chemicals that have a specific toxic effect upon the disease-producing microorganisms or that selectively destroy cancerous tissue

Radiotherapy

Radiotherapy is treatment of disease by means of x-rays or of radioactive substances

Hormone Therapy

Hormone treatments use the sex hormones produced by our bodies, or drugs that block them, to treat cancer

Bisphosphonates

Bisphosphonates are drugs used to slow down or prevent bone damage

Cancer Drugs

Different drugs come in different forms; there are many ways to take them also. Your doctor will advise on the combination of drugs to take and the means best for you. The administration of these drugs can occur in a number of ways -

  • Injections into your vein
  • Injection into your muscle or just under the skin
  • Using a syringe driver
  • Suppository
  • Skin patch
  • Tablet to dissolve under your tongue
