Chasing The Moon - upcoming gig 12th July

Our friends "Chasing the Moon" have an upcoming gig - Thursday 12th July

Chasing the Moon plays gypsy-styled jazz in the tradition of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. The exuberant and romantic sounds of jazz manouche are blended with classic American swing and south of the border Latin to create an engaging and lively performance style.  They remind us of the great jazz of days gone by, of Ella tearing up a scat, Lester Young playing sweet, or Django burning the fret board.

There is freshness in the way they combine different styles – a mix of hot club with the blues, a touch of folk, flirting with Latin rhythms, lashings of swing with something modern too. And there is excitement, as if they are discovering it all for the first time; taking chances and taking the audience with them.

The frontline consists of Kathy Bluff on lead vocals and violin, Paul Burjan on saxophone and flute and Peter Malone on guitar. The rhythm section is John Conley on double bass and Tony Keep on drums.

All members are highly accomplished musicians with previous engagements including Galapagos Duck, ABC Sinfonia, Castanet Club, Edinburgh Festival, Adelaide Festival, Hey Ba Ba Re Bop, Hippos, Bushwhackers and Musica Viva.
The band has a strong musical rapport and a cohesive sound derived from their ongoing musical history. This is evident in their intuitive connection on stage. They are good to watch and the joy is infectious.

Doors – 7pm, show 8pm – Tix are $15
